Whenever you purchase a web-hosting plan, you may be allowed to have certain number of Sub-Domains, Parked Domains and Add-On Domains in your account. This number differs from one hosting provider to another, but generally speaking most of the providers offer you certain number of each and some even allow you to have unlimited number of domains and sub domains.

there are different types and different ways. But lett’s dwell first on Add on domains.

What is an add on Domain?

An addon domain allows you to reach a sub-domain when entering the name of the addon domain into a browser. This means that you can host additional domains from your account, if allowed by your hosting provider. call it an extar domain name in one account. Addon Domains are relative to your account’s home directory.

With add on domains you have an option of operating several different domains independent of each other. for example, the domains http://www.mysite.com, http://www.my-site.biz, http://www.my-other-site.com. Will direct Internet users to three different websites if these domains are designated as Add-On Domains.

So therefore it is advisable to register as many domains a you can and put them as add ons.

A guy who sells meat pies as a business online and is named Joe should therefore register as much domains as joemeatpie.com, joemeatpie.biz and possibly joemeatpie.com.ng. Pile them up add them on . The amount of traffic you’ll get especially from potential customers who would have been lost (if they type in the wrong dot whatever ending) will amaze you and definitely increase your income. besides it will save you lots of legal headaches of having to protect your brand when it has come of age and become so big.

This feature must be enabled for your account before you can use it. Addon Domains will not be functional unless the domain name is registered with a valid registrar and configured to point to your DNS servers.
